Tracy’s boudoir photoshoot to celebrate herself
We took the time to interview another amazing client! Who am I kidding? You’re all amazing. Given the chance and the time, I’d interview every single woman who walks through my door. But, alas, that’s probably not possible. So, allow me to introduce Tracy, one of the many amazing clients who has graced my studio over the years.

Q – What inspired your boudoir experience?
I’ve known Naomi for a while, so I had been watching her photography business grow. When she started doing boudoir shoots I was a little surprised, but her images were so amazing. The way she captured each woman felt personal and made them look beautiful and so sexy without being over-sexualized or feeling cheap (if that makes any sense). When she did a model call I took it as a sign that it was my time to go all in on a shoot with her.
Q – How did the way you feel about your body change when you saw your photos?
Everything about doing a boudoir shoot was challenging to me. I’m middle-aged, not in great shape… far from the “perfect body”. Two C-sections gave me a pretty significant mom bell., I’m not happy with my weight or how in shape or toned I am. And, when I signed up for a shoot I had had a total hip replacement just 4 months before – so I had a big scar on one hip. I told Naomi that I didn’t know how she was going to make me look good enough to want to use any of my images in her marketing – but if she was up for the challenge I was game.
Immediately after the photoshoot, I was excited to see my photos and glad I’d spent time with Naomi. I was also a little tired – it’s hard work posing like that lol. But mostly it was just like I had spent time with a good friend and I was kind of sad to see it come to an end.
When I saw my photos I was blown away……just speechless……I couldn’t believe it was me. I hadn’t seen myself as a beautiful, sensual woman in so long – I mean decades, long before children and things.
So, to look at Naomi’s computer and see myself with beautiful hair and makeup, in gorgeous settings, looking confident and sexy and just really owning my femininity and sexiness and looking confident and comfortable with my body. It was so empowering and uplifting to see myself in this light, to feel beautiful and sexy and proud and confident. To see that even in middle age, with a mom body and a scar and all my insecurities I could be beautiful too – it was so moving.

Q – Were there any moments that stood out during your photoshoot?
I think at one point Naomi showed me a photo on the back of the camera and I was blown away – I couldn’t believe that I could be photographed that way and look so beautiful.
I do remember struggling to get into a pose with the egg chair, and some comment about it being similar to being at the gynecologist. Overall I remember the whole session being light hearted and fun and feeling like I wished I could just keep hanging out and laughing and putting on wings and crowns and things.
Q – How did you feel after you booked your boudoir shoot and what advice do you have for women who are on the fence about the idea?
I felt nervous, doubtful, overwhelmed. A little regret – why on earth did I think signing up to let someone take boudoir photos of me was a good idea? But also a little hopeful. And open to the idea. I knew if nothing else I’d have a good time spending a day with Naomi.

Naomi is so good at what she does that she instantly sets you at ease. Even though we knew each other, and I knew we’d have fun together it was a little weird to think about someone that you know well seeing you like that. But, as soon as we started looking at what I’d brought and talking about sets and props and things it wasn’t awkward at all.
Her personality is so amazing – she’s the perfect blend of personable and lighthearted and funny and professional and hype-woman and calming and reassuring. Getting hair and makeup done was fun – I’m a pretty simple hair and makeup person day to day – so having someone spend time doing my hair and makeup was fun….and was a great way to ease into the session since it gave us plenty of time to talk and laugh and things.
I wish more women knew how uplifting and empowering a boudoir experience is, and that those feelings don’t disappear when the shoot ends – they carry over for a while, and come back when you look at your photos. I wish they knew that every woman that goes into the studio for a boudoir shoot worries that she’s not pretty enough or fit enough, has insecurities and worries about doing it.

Q – What would you say to someone who is nervous or thinks she isn’t “pretty/thin/curvy/etc” enough?
It’s natural to be nervous about a boudoir shoot since the intent of it is to capture photos of us in ways that we aren’t used to being viewed.
I would tell them to go ahead and book the shoot and not wait until they lose 5 more pounds or get more in shape – there’s no better time than the present to give yourself the gift of images that show how beautiful you are just as you are today.
I would tell them to trust Naomi – who is so amazing at what she does and has a gift for capturing each woman’s beauty – I swear she didn’t take one bad image of me. I would tell them to trust the process and enjoy the experience of being pampered and posed and hyped up during the shoot; Naomi makes every woman feel like a rock star in her studio.
